Roka Akor brings an unparalleled combination of thoughtful design and contemporary Robatayaki Japanese cuisine. The restaurant's name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambiance; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. The menu offers small plates, entrees from the impressive action-packed Robata grill, salads, sashimi and sushi. There is a full bar that will be open every night until 2 a.m. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night Roka Akor will feature a DJ. Additionally, the restaurant offers two private rooms and an outdoor patio.

I was just looking up Roka Akor to make a reservation and saw the other review and thought I'd put in my two cents. We have eaten there once and although the prices WERE high, we are still talking about our overall experience there and felt that the black cod was the best fish we've ever eaten. The other dishes were all very good too. It's not somewhere I'd go more that a couple of times a year due to the cost, but it's a good place for a special meal in my opinion!

The portions to price ratio is ridiculous. Our party loves good sashimi and to pay $24 for 5 SMALL shrimp that looked and smelled like bait, 2 prawns, and 3 small pieces of yellow fin tuna was upsetting to begin the meal.
The prawn "skewers" are $12 and consist of 2 small prawns on a stick with no other accompaniement. The beef "skewers" were 8 small pieces of what seemed like skirt steak that was very tough and chewey.
The only reason this review got 1 star was the sushi. Otherwise it was a waste of time....we won't be back unless things change. I would recommend TANEKO just down the street on Scottsdale Road at the Borgata before stepping foot in this place!!!!!!!!!!
