Peelander-Z is a Japanese punk band based in New York City. They bill themselves as a "Japanese Action Comic Punk band hailing from the Z area of Planet Peelander".
They perform on stage and appear in videos in color-coordinated costumes. They state they are not costumes, but their skin. Their costumes range from suits not unlike that of Power Rangers, to kimonos, to wigs that make them look like Playmobil figures, which is where part of their "Japanese Action Comic Punk" routine come into play. Another aspect of their routine is their on-stage antics such as human bowling (diving head-first into toy bowling pins), hitting each other with chairs (although not really trying to hit each other), and piggyback rides while performing. They often allow audience members on stage to join in on the fun, and often go into the audience as part of their act. Peelander-Z's music, performances, and antics are all in the sake of having fun.
They've performed on the cult TV Show "MXC". Spike TV aired a special edition of that show to start the third season, featuring skateboarder Tony Hawk and snowboarder Tara Dakides. The special was taped at the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida using students from nearby colleges and appropriately dubbed "MXC Almost Live"
