Wanted: locations for newspaper recycling bins under Apache Junction Lions Club sponsorship.
With discontinuation of the two collection bins at the Old Basha’s plaza, the service club has lost income for its community service projects.
“Only 10 sites remain, none as good at those two,” said Jeannette Bonucci, secretary of the club. Bins are at businesses, plazas and in mobile home and travel trailer parks.
The club gets a portion of the money earned from the tons of newsprint recycled from bins under its sponsorship. Any business wishing to join the “green” planet campaign should call Bonucci at (480) 983-5278.
The club voted to pay $130 for a pair of glasses for an Apache Junction schoolgirl.
The next summer social meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Harb and Janet Jordan’s home, 1426 N. Wickiup, Apache Junction. Reservations: (480)982-2908.
